Contest Guidelines: Queens of Wands

Are you a visionary woman artist ready to revolutionize the art world through innovation and technology? Do you have the creativity and courage to challenge the mundane and established norms? If so, we invite you to participate in our contest and showcase your talent at Miami Art Week 2024.

Contest Overview:

Theme: Queens of Wands: Celebrating Women in Art and Technology
Event Dates: December 5th-8th, 2024
Location: Miami Beach Women’s Club
2401 Pine Tree Dr, Miami Beach, FL 33140
Note: The venue is a 5-minute walk from the convention center. We will provide a two-way shuttle service between the convention center and the Women’s Club to ensure visitors’ comfort and venue traffic. Our marketing is connected to the City of Miami Beach Art & Culture events and will reach over 40,000 individuals. Additionally, the Miami Beach Women’s Club, owned by the Miami Beach Hotel Group, is affiliated with Art Basel Miami.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Eligibility:
    • Open to women artists from around the globe, 18+ of age.
    • Specializing in traditional and digital art forms, as well as those integrating cutting-edge technology in their work.
  2. Artwork Submission:
    • Provide your best works that align with the legacy of pioneering women artists who dedicated their hearts, emotions, and powers to creating new thinking and evolving the human race.
    • We seek bold and spontaneous expressions that challenge the status quo.
  3. Medium and Technique:
    • You are welcome to choose any medium or technique that best showcases your talent and message.
    • Free expression is encouraged.
  4. Submission Requirements:
    • Artist’s Statement: A written piece of up to 3,000 characters explaining your artwork and its significance.
    • Images: Up to 15 images of your work (2000 x 2000 pixels 72dpi).
    • Media: URL on YouTube or Vimeo, when selected this will be featured on our platform homepage
    • Music: Provide a URL Spotify or SoundCloud or any other platform supporting your work with a public URL

Participation Fee: $250 per application review, deductible from the full participation fee of $2,750 – $5,500 per participant.

How to Submit:

    1. Pay the application fee of $250 and create your profile.
  • Once you have created your profile, you may start uploading your artwork along with a detailed description and price.
  • In your Dashboard scroll down and hover Artwork, then click on “Add New” 
  • Follow the provided instructions for file specifications and guidelines carefully.

3. Biography + Artists Statement:  In the Dashboard scroll down to “Blog”, then hover then click “Add New”, here you will be able to create as many blogs as you wish for your own use, but for now we will only review your Biography and your Artist’ Statement for your QUEENS OF WANDS Miami 2024 application.

  • Include a comprehensive biography that highlights your background, achievements, and artistic journey. We suggest that you keep it short not more than 1,500 caracters
  • Your Artist’s Statement should not exceed 3,000 characters explaining your creative process, inspirations, and the significance of your work.

4. Exhibition Space:

    • Standard Space: Each participant will receive a minimum space of 5 feet wide x 8 feet high for artwork display. The display must be airy and elegant, subject to our curator’s acceptance.
    • Full Wall: A full wall space of 10 feet wide x 8 feet high is available for $2,750. You may request the allocation of two walls facing each other for your artwork exhibition for $5,500.
    • Layout Approval: A layout with your artwork must be provided for approval by November 10th latest. You are required to select the partition that is more suitable for your artwork and provide the images and the layout of the artwork you intend to showcase at the exhibition.
    • Our marketing team is attached to Miami Art Week, and we are an officially selected Art and Culture presenter of the City of Miami Beach. Selected artists will have a 1:1 interview with the media and press and will be featured on our platform with a one-year free subscription as our featured artists throughout the year. This event will take place in December 2024 and will continue to exhibit in NYC in May and in September. As a satellite for art weeks, we intend to move forward next to NYC, Chicago, LA, then Seoul, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, and more. Wherever there are women in art, we will be there to provide our support.
  2. Outdoor Sculpture Installation:
    • Outdoor installations are available.
    • Sculptures must be installed on December 4th and removed by December 8th at 6 pm latest.
    • The fee is $3,000 per 6×6 feet on the ground per sculpture.
    • For media art, we provide screens for an extra rental fee of $250, with a maximum of 4 screens laid out in two rows per 5 feet wall rental in a staggered layout (one horizontal and one vertical per row).

Submission Deadline:

  • All entries must be submitted within 8 weeks from the date of this announcement.
  • The application will close on September 3rd, 2024.
  • The selected participants will be announced on Monday, September 30th at 5 pm.

Payment Details:

  • If Selected:
    • Once selected, you will have the opportunity to choose your wall surface and pay a sum of $2,500 – $5,000, depending on the space allocated (wall art, screen, or sculpture).
    • Payable in one installment at your acceptance date and the latest by October 21st to allow a smooth proceeding and transition to the marketing process for the best results.
    • Our art fair is attached to the City of Miami Beach as their art and culture presenter, and we aim to provide the top prestigious image possible. We ask our artists to honor this prestigious title and collaborate on their highest ethics. To make a change, we must be bold and daring but also be role models and inspire.

Marketing and Exposure:

    • All participating profiles will be actively marketed during Miami Art Week, providing substantial potential for future exhibitions and increased exposure.
    • Your profile will be hosted on our platform for one year with a complimentary subscription, which you can upgrade at any time if needed.
  • Profile Utilization:
    • Your profile will function as your personal website, enabling you to use it for all other exhibitions with us or independently.
    • You can create a blog within your profile to share updates and paste your URL once it is published.
  • Return on Participation:
    • Miami Art Week offers a significant opportunity for exposure and networking, boosting your chances for future exhibitions and collaborations.
